Lagos — About 500 youths from the Lagos Central Senatorial District have called on the Senator representing the district, Oluremi Tinubu, to declare for a second term.

The youths, under the aegis of Lagos Central Youths, also passed a vote of confidence on Tinubu, saying she was capable of representing them for second term.

It would be recalled that Tinubu had some weeks ago accused the Senate of taking partisan stance on national issues, just as Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, accused her in turn of attempting to malign the reputation of the leadership of the Senate.

However, the youths at a meeting held at the Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat on Wednesday gave their unalloyed support to the Senator whom they described as being very resourceful.

One of the youths, Ralph Fatona, from Victoria Island, Iru Local Government of the state, moved the motion, urging the Senator not to be intimidated by those he described as unscrupulous people within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to disparage her person and office.

Fatona's motion was seconded by the youth leader, Fatai Alli-Balogun, who expressed absolute confidence in the Senator while others present unanimously adopted it.

Addressing the youths, Chairman, Yaba LCDA, Jide Jimoh, advised them to be mindful of anything that can cause chaos among them, stressing that their youthfulness should be used for things that would profit the state.

According to Jimoh, "As youths, you should not allow money, women, title and hypocrisy to divide, you must stand together as one. You should not allow desperate politicians to come in between you and use you for what could cause damage to your future.

"As a politician, I don't take gossips from people, if you come to tell me that someone is involved in anti-party activities, I will tell you to leave the person and that you as a person should go and work in favour of the party. So let us be united," he added. Allcafrika
