Wellington Silva says he can’t wait to link up with Arsene Wenger at Arsenal after he finally gained a work permit.

The Brazilian has spent five seasons waiting to play for the Gunners and has been on various loan deals in Spain over that period of time.

Now, after impressing in his most recent spell at La Liga club Almeria, he has finally received a Spanish passport and is set to be at the Emirates Stadium next season.

Wellington says he is thrilled to finally have the chance to play for Arsenal, and he is looking forward to playing under the Gunners boss alongside some top players.

“I am very happy and relieved,” he told Globosporte. “I was waiting a long time and now can seize the opportunity, the doors will open. With the passport in my hand I feel now it will be alright.”

“I love [Wenger’s] work. I’ve done several workouts with him when he was there.

“Arsenal have now signed quality players like Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Cazorla. To play with them will be good, easier.

“Of course I’ll have to adapt, but if I keep focused I’m sure I’ll be able to fight for my space.”

Wellington is highly regarded for his pace, dribbling ability and strength on the ball. He is a direct midfield player who should be well suited for the Premier League.

But with the likes of Ozil, Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of him in the pecking order, the Brazilian will have a tough time breaking into the Arsenal first-team.
