BARCELONA SIGNS NEW FORWARD!

Barcelona have confirmed the long-awaited signing of Spain international Paco Alcacer from Valencia in a deal worth €30m (£25.6m, $33.6m), plus further €2m in add-ons. The 22-year-old striker has agreed a five-year contract at the Nou Camp and is expected to serve as back-up for the MSN trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

The La Liga giants have now seemingly completed their summer overhaul, after hunting for a new forward since the beginning of the transfer window. The Catalans have been knocked back by the likes of Luciano Vietto, Kevin Gameiro, Gabriel Jesus, Nolito, Hatem Ben Arfa and Ousmane Dembele throughout the summer due to the various players' reluctance to play second fiddle to the MSN triumvirate.

Earlier this month it was revealed Alcacer was Luis Enrique's top candidate to bolster Barcelona's attack, with the player was likely to accept a secondary role at the Nou Camp in case of any move. Valencia originally claimed that the Spain international was not on sale, but following weeks of tough negotiations they have agreed to part ways with him for €30m plus add-ons.

"FC Barcelona's latest signing Paco Alcácer, previously at Valencia CF, comes on a five-year contract. FC Barcelona will pay Valencia €30m plus €2m in variables for the 23-year-old player," the La Liga giants have confirmed. "The buy-out clause in Alcácer's contract is set at €100m. The striker has passed his medical and has now signed a contract with FC Barcelona. He will be presented once he returns from international duty with the Spanish national team after having joined up with the squad on Monday."

Alcacer, who scored 13 La Liga goals in 34 appearances for Valencia last term, becomes Barcelona's sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Jasper Cillessen, Denis Suarez, Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne and Andre Gomes.
