MAKINDE EXPRESSES WORRIES OVER NOLLYWOOD....It is an open secret that I am the first artist to enjoy the divine privilege of being elected a member of the prestigious National Assembly. It has therefore been my fervent desire to serve as an instrument of change and get the bridge between the government and the Nollywood players built but alas my limit ends only on legislative assignment and contributions on the floor of the house.

Even as a lone ranger, the House in most instances look upon me to guide them in matters relating to Nollywood and that I have readily done with every sense of responsibilities. My challenges however includes the issue of disunity among stakeholders in the industry,we have Nantap,ANTP and many others thereby making nonsense of whom and where to turn to and to make the matter worst, many do not even see me as their ambassador. I relate with many on individual capacity and certainly no group has ever seen me as a tool to champion their desires.

The role I played to make the 3Billion Naira grant proposed and approved by the House a reality is on record, my voice and position on the issue of the need to get the National Theatre revived and make it the pride of the nation as of old is also on record for any doubting thomas.

It is my fervent prayer that the bond of unity is re-established between Jide Kosoko and Zeb Ejiro, I want to see One Nollywood and several affiliated bodies, an industry with improved pedigree and credibility.

My opinion on Nollywood at 20 was surprisingly condemned greatly even by my mischievous kinsmen. At any rate, I have been able to put on record that there exist bundles of talent in the industry as I remain an asset and not a liability for Nollywood people and glad that many are now seeking to join politics. I shall continue to humbly welcome my colleagues in this noble profession for the betterment of the industry.

So help me God.
