King Sunny Ade

Friends, family and loved ones stunned the king of Juju music last weekend with a surprise birthday party. King Sunny Ade who turned 68 last Monday was lured into a surprise birthday party by his children. He was earlier contracted to play at an event in Ibadan. At exactly midnight on Sunday, he was on his way to the event venue along Iwo road in Ibadan. Little did he know that it was a surprise birthday party. The stage was already set for him to play. He walked into a crowd of familiar faces of friends and loved ones singing “Happy Birthday” to him. The gesture melted the musician’s heart that for a while, one wasn’t sure if he was going to break down in tears.

His children were already on stage playing for him. Irresistibly, he joined his children on stage and played to his guests delight.

On Sunday, a thanksgiving service was held in the Redeemed Christian Church of God building in his compound in Ondo State. Indeed, he has a lot to be grateful for. At 68, the musician still brags of agility and always a show stopper when he plays at events.

Long Live the King of Juju Music!!!
