Woman Charged Over Anonymous Threats To Children

Carrie Pernula sent anonymous notes to a neighbour threatening to eat their children because they kept putting things in her yard.

A woman has been charged after she allegedly sent anonymous, threatening notes to a neighbouring family saying she wanted to "taste" their children.

Carrie Pernula, 38, was charged on Thursday with stalking and disorderly conduct after letters arrived in the family's mail box in Champlin, suburban Minneapolis.

Champlin Deputy Police Chief Ty Schmidt said Pernula was upset because the children made noise outside her home and sometimes left items in her yard.

The family posted a warning on a community website after the threats

The first note arrived on 27 September, and read: "The children look delicious. May I have a taste?"

The terrified family alerted police and posted a warning on a community Facebook page which said: "Opened our mail today to this letter. Obviously my stomach started doing somersaults."

Magazine subscriptions then began arriving at the family home addressed to "tasty children".

Police traced the magazines and Pernula was arrested last Friday. She was released on bond on Monday.

Her lawyer, Debbie Lang, said it was "an unfortunate and complicated situation for everyone involved".
