Wilko customer stabbed in face with garden fork at Manchester store

A shopper is being questioned after a fellow customer was stabbed in the face with a garden fork at a budget store in Manchester.

The 26-year old suspect was detained on suspicion of assault after a row broke out between him and the victim at the Wilko store in Harpurhey on Thursday afternoon.

The unnamed victim, 31, was taken to hospital with facial wounds that are not life-threatening

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 12pm on Thursday 10 December 2015, police were called to reports that a man had been stabbed in the Harpurhey Shopping Centre in Manchester.

"Officers arrived and discovered two men had been fighting inside one of the shops and a 31-year-old man had been stabbed in the face with a small garden fork which had been taken from one of the shelves.

"A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is now in police custody
