Amber Amour, 27, was attacked while on an anti-rape campaign in the country

A WOMAN who was sexually assaulted while on an anti-rape mission in South Africa live-blogged her experience to her followers on Instagram.

Amber Amour, 27, from New York, had been in South Africa with friends when she claims she was attacked by a man in a shower at her hostel.

However, before the feminist campaigner called the police, she posted a picture - with tears still in her eyes – to her 20,000 followers on the social media site.

“As soon as I got in the bathroom, he forced me to my knees. I said "stop!" but he just got more violent,” she wrote.

“I asked him to stop, again, as I began to cry. When he shoved it in my a**, that's when I passed out. I woke up a few minutes later and saw him trying to creep out the door. When he saw that I was awake, he came back to finish me off in the shower. “

Amour claims she was attacked by a ‘local South African man’ called Shakir, with whom she had agreed to have a shower.

Shakir, she said, had been “desperately trying to get with me” throughout her stay in the country where she was promoting her ‘Stop Rape. Educate’ campaign, which she started after she was attacked in New York.

“I kissed him once but he seemed drunk so I told him it was bad timing, I had already met someone,” she said.

“Shakir followed me upstairs and said he was going to take a shower. He invited me to join. I said yes because the water at my current hostel is pretty cold and after 2 days of being sick, I just really wanted a hot shower,” she said before explaining the attack in harrowing detail.

SPEAKING OUT: Amber posted this picture showing her on a hospital bed with a ‘rape kit’ in front of her

In the post written straight after the attack, she said: "I have all those f**ked up feelings that we get after rape…shame, disgust, suffering.

"I’m here, alone, and any DNA has been wiped away in the shower."

Ironically, the only reason Amber was in South Africa was to promote her ‘Stop Rape. Educate’ campaign, which she started after she was attacked in New York.

Amour then posted two more pictures, one on the way to the hospital and one of her on a hospital bed with a ‘rape kit’ in front of her.

Speaking to Marie Claire magazine, she said: "I immediately knew that I couldn’t keep what had happened a secret.

"Here I was, telling survivors every single day that they should speak up… I knew I had to practise what I preached. So the first thing I did was take a picture and write a post, describing what had happened."

Six weeks later, Amber still remains in South Africa where the police investigation is still ongoing.

She says the man who raped her was arrested but has been released on bail and the case will continue on March 29.

“I found out yesterday that the man who raped me was arrested!! And then he was released on bail for 1000Rand, about $75. I'm not dropping the case, I'll let the courts do their job,” she told her followers
