Vauxhall, Crystal Palace, Best Places To Live In London!

Vauxhall, Bermondsey and Crystal Palace have been named three of the best places to live in London.

The three up and coming areas made a top ten list published in the Sunday Times.

They feature alongside Hampstead, Fulham and trendy Islington. Fitzrovia has earned the title of best place to live in London.

In a separate list for the UK as a whole, the cathedral city of Winchester came out on top.

According to the guide, London Bridge's neighbour Bermondsey has undergone a “Shoreditch-style transformation from Millwall-supporting mean streets to urban hipster paradise”.

Of Crystal Palace in south London, the paper writes: “Every ‘best of London’ list has to have a new Clapham.

“First it was Balham, then Dulwich (again) and, more recently, Peckham.

“Now the chattering classes, pushed ever further out by the capital’s property-price madness, are homing in on Crystal Palace, which is a sea of buggies, cafes and gentrifying period homes.”

Vauxhall, south of the river near Westminster, is praised as being a “true diamond in the rough” where “concrete jungle gives way to a genteel hinterland”.

Published annually, the guide combines data such as crime rates, house prices and school performance with local knowledge.
