Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: SUN UP(6)
Jockey: R DANIELSON - Trainer: A LAIRD

SUN UP appeared just in need of her fair debut over this c & d recently and the imported bay filly should make natural improvement.

TOP BET
Race 4: SMART DEAL(1)
Jockey: K ZECHNER - Trainer: L HOUDALAKIS

SMART DEAL is an improving stayer who will be fitter after perhaps just needing his comeback run following a short nine week absence. He ran on smartly for a close 2nd that day where he was importan- tly nearly four lengths clear of the next placed entrant IMOTO and this galloping circuit will suit the top selection more.

Race 5: ARTE(1)
Jockey: LJ FERRARIS - Trainer: G MAROUN

Arte stays all day and she was given a competent ride by this improving apprentice recently. She ran on well to beat DALLEY (0.5kg better off) by just under one length & she can follow-up over the extra ground. The latter has gone exactly one year without a win but she can build on that much improved recent effort

Race 8: TRIPOD(1)
Jockey: C ZACKEY - Trainer: D SHAM

The speedy TRIPOD had a creditable recent performance over an extra furlong in a much stronger field but will clearly prefer the drop to this minimum distance. The same applies to his main danger TOUR OF DUTY who should have a big say if repeating his eye-catching penultimate run over this trip.

VALUE BET
Race 9: PUNTA CANA(2)
Jockey: R SIMONS - Trainer: M DE KOCK

There are some smart campaigners in this tricky seven furlong graduation contest which should result in an exciting finish. PUNTA CANA's conditioner had a change of heart after the gelding performed well in his first try over a mile recently. He stayed on to finish a length and a half adrift of the runner up FULL MAST (0.5kg better off) that day but that was his first outing around the bend and he could enjoy today's slight drop in distance.
