Heading into the third week of the English Premier League football season and no fewer than six teams have a 100% record. We take a look at selected matches from Saturday’s coupon which starts with Manchester City’s visit to Wolves and ends with Liverpool’s home game with Brighton.

Note, odds quoted are an approximate average of what was available at the time of writing but are subject to change.

Wolves v Manchester City
Match Result Betting

Wolves 9/1, Draw 23/4, Man City 1 / 4
Saturday’s early kick off sees newly promoted Wolves host the title holders Manchester City. Wolves have just the 1 point to show for their efforts so far and that was earned in a 2-2 draw at home to Everton on the opening weekend. Everton played over half that game with 10 men so it was an opportunity missed by Wolves and last week they also played against 10 men for the final quarter of a 2-0 defeat away to Leicester. They hit the woodwork more than once at Leicester and were considered unlucky to lose the game and they now face their toughest test of the season so far.
City have taken maximum points from their first 2 matches, a 2-0 win away at Arsenal followed by a 6-1 hiding of Huddersfield at the Etihad Stadium last weekend. News that de Bruyne will be absent through injury for some time didn’t stop City putting Huddersfield away with Agüero helping himself to a hat trick to send City top of the early standings on goal difference.

I’ve been on btts yes in both Wolves matches so far, they obliged in their only home game but I came unstuck last week. Back on home turf, albeit against the league champions I’m prepared to stick with the same strategy in the belief that Wolves will always carry a threat and also as City did concede at home to Huddersfield last week even though they won their game hands down.
Bet: Both teams to score? (yes) at 9/10

Bournemouth v Everton

Match Result Betting
Bournemouth 16/10, Draw 5/2, Everton 17/10
Bournemouth are another of the sides to have started with back to back wins. They saw off newly promoted Cardiff with a 2-0 home win first time out and last weekend they came from behind to win 2-1 at West Ham.

Everton have made a solid start with 4 points from 2 games. In the circumstances their 2-2 draw at Wolves was a decent enough point and next time out they came through a home fixture against Southampton with a 2-1 win. Big money signing Richarlison scored both Everton goals at Wolves and he was on target again against the Saints last week as Everton took a 2-0 half time lead before Southampton launched a comeback.

Bournemouth won this fixture 2-1 last season and Everton came out on top by the same scoreline when the teams met at Goodison. Since their promotion to the Premier League Bournemouth have won 2 and drawn 1 of their 3 home games against this opposition.

The 2-3 total goals bet has arrived regularly in the first 2 weeks of the season including 3 of the 4 matches involving either of these 2 sides. It looks tricky to name a winner so I’ve no problem in rowing in with the trend of 2-3 to come up again.
Bet: Total goals 2-3 at even money
Arsenal v West Ham
Match Result Betting
Arsenal 7/20, Draw 9/2, West Ham 7/1

The Gunners are still looking for their first point of the season after losing 2 very tough opening matches. They went down 2-0 at home to Manchester City on the opening weekend and last time out they were beaten by the odd goal in 5 at Chelsea. Arsenal were 2-0 down inside 20 minutes at Stamford Bridge but to their credit they fought back to 2-2 by half time thanks to goals from Mkhitaryan and Iwobi. They looked likely to take a point before Chelsea popped up with an 83rd minuet winner.

West Ham are also on zero points and their first 2 displays have provided plenty of cause for concern. First up they folded timidly in a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool and despite scoring first at home to Bournemouth last week they conceded twice in the space of 6 second half minutes to go down 2-1. Arnautovic had scored West Ham’s first goal of the campaign from the penalty spot so they have yet to find the net from open play.

Arsenal won this fixture 4-1 last season whilst the earlier meeting at Stadium London had finished without a goal.

I’m looking to the anytime goalscorer markets for a betting interest. Henrikh Mkhitaryan found the net last week and has also spurned a few chances in the 2 matches so far. Still, his tendancy to crop up in goalscoring positions makes him a runner against a West Ham defence that has been having problems.

A more speculative play is Arnautovic to score anytime for West Ham. Although the team looks short of a goal threat he looks the most likely to take advantage of any hesitancy in a Gunners defence which has shipped 5 goals in 2 matches.

Bet: Anytime Goalscorer, Henrikh Mkhitaryan 29/20
Anytime Goalscorer, Marko Arnautovic at 21/10

Liverpool v Brighton
Match Result Betting
Liverpool 2/11, Draw 27/4, Brighton 15/1
Liverpool made it 2 wins from 2 with a useful victory away to Crtsyal Palace on Monday night. Goals at the end of each half from Milner (pen) and Mane gave Liverpool the points although they were made to work hard by a well organised and spirited Palace effort. Klopp#s team had started with a 4-0 home win over West Ham where they hardly needed to get out of second gear. They were unbeaten at Anfield throughout the 2017/18 league campaign and 2 of their the new signings that we have seen, goalkeeper Alisson and midfielder Keita appear to have settled in really well.

Brighton started badly with a 2-0 defeat away to Watford but they left that form well and truly behind them with a 3-2 home win over Manchester United last Sunday. Murray, Duffy and a penalty from Groß had Brighton 3-1 up at half time against United and by the time the visitors pulled a goal back Brighton were as good as home and hosed.

Liverpool enjoyed 2 thumping wins over Brighton last season, 4-0 at Anfield and 5-1 away from home.

The markets suggest goals and plenty for the home side but I’m looking outside of the obvious for an anytime goalscorer. Virgil Van Dijk, a big threat at set pieces ,is going to pop up sooner rather than later and I don’t want to miss him when he does register.

Bet: Anytime goalscorer, Virgil Van Dijk at 21/4
