Race 5: ROY'S PONY(2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ANTIGONUS(10)
Jockey: C Zackey - Trainer: B Impey
ANTIGONUS drifted alarmingly in the betting market but still produced an exciting debut over six furlongs on this track a fortnight ago and should make natural improvement.

TOP BET FOR TODAY

Race 5: ARIZONA SUNSET(3)
Jockey: A Marcus - Trainer: K Naidoo
The above-average ARIZONA SUNSET is way better than what her last two efforts indicate, though she did face considerably stronger rivals in The Oaks in June. The daughter of Mogok races fresh on her seasonal debut so should cope with this drop in distance and she certainly has an affinity for this track.

Race 6: TOMMY GRAND(2)
Jockey: S Randolph- Trainer: N Kotzen
TOMMY GRAND reached a competitive merit rating and it showed when he bounced right back to form with a smart last outing on the polytrack. Interestingly, the capable four-year old escaped without a penalty for his exertions and he seems well handicapped in this line-up

Race 7: HASHTAG STRAT(4)
Jockey:  K Sakayi  - Trainer: L Goosen
The Louis Goosen outfit saddles two-thirds of the nine entrants in the day's topliner, a Pinnacle Stakes contest over five furlongs. The rapid bay mare HASHTAG STRAT was slightly disappointing on the polytrack on 'July Day' but she trounced her rivals at this level over this c & d in back-to-back efforts prior to that.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY

Race 8: SHADOW CATCHER(5)
Jockey: L Ferraris  - Trainer: D Bosch
The jockey engagements for the Bosch yard is interesting as visiting senior rider Brown partners the filly FLAMENCO DANCER despite engaging with SHADOW CATCHER in an eye-catching recent outing on the polytrack. Of course the latter should have finished much closer but for traffic congestion that day. The four-year old gets a capable 2.5kgs claiming apprentice in the saddle though and can make amends.
