ATR TIPS FOR SOUTHWELL UK

12:10 PM - Jigsaw Sports Branding Handicap Chase

Caroline Fryer's MIDNIGHT BLISS is unbeaten in five and despite being 8lb higher than her victory when last seen in the summer, the eight-year-old is more than capable of getting involved once again at a course her handler has a 21-percent strike-rate at over the last five seasons. Richard Johnson takes over on Apache Prince, who is yet to score over fences but has some smart form over hurdles, while Packettotherafters placed here off 1lb higher in the autumn and could surprise if on a going day.

Top Tip: MIDNIGHT BLISS (2)
Watch out for: APACHEE PRINCE (4)

Track regular ULIS DE VASSY has struggled so far this winter but finds himself 4lb lower than when successful over course and distance in the spring and now appears to be the right time to return to a venue he has scored three times at in the past. Boughtbeforelunch was a long way ahead of the selection here in November, but is 7lb higher in the ratings today and unseated his rider early on at Huntingdon last weekend, while Generous Day wasn't beaten far at Hereford last time and warrants respect. Riddlestown is another who loves it round here and the seven-time course winner is just 2lb higher than when scoring at Towcester in the summer. Sue Smith's pair of Iskabeg Lane and Dartford Warbler are others with possibilities.

Top Tip: ULIS DE VASSY (11)
Watch out for: RIDDLESTOWN (3)

UMBRIGADO was a comfortable winner of a Uttoxeter bumper last month on his first outing for David Pipe and his 160,000-pound purchase sets the standard once again on his hurdles bow. Khage was in the lead and clear when falling in the second half of his hurdles bow at Bangor and could make amends following wind surgery for a team in decent form, while Shanty Alley could make his way on to the podium if repeating the form of his Hereford fourth.

Top Tip: UMBRIGADO (9)
Watch out for: KHAGE (4)

Stoney Mountain sets a useful standard having followed up his battling victory over the useful Aye Aye Charlie with a narrow defeat at the hands of a promising novice at Ascot last month and the return of Richard Johnson to the saddle is a positive. However, preference is for Olly Murphy's 100,000-pound gelding SEEMINGLY SO, who stayed on well to score on his Rules debut at Market Rasen and should only improve for a step up in trip with jockey Fergus Gregory removing a useful 5lb. Golden Whisky is another set to be suited by tackling further here, with Saturdaynightfever respected on the best of his bumper form despite a disappointing hurdles bow at Plumpton.

Top Tip: SEEMINGLY SO (1)
Watch out for: STONEY MOUNTAIN (2)

KIMBERLEY POINT arrives here on a hat-trick for Alan King and it would be a surprise if she didn't continue on an upward trajectory. A mark of 123 could still underestimate her and this is a nice opening for a trainer who is 9-29 in hurdle races at this venue in the last five years. Canny Style took a big step forward to claim the spoils at Sedgefield last month, while Darlyn did it well at Uttoxeter four weeks ago and also merits consideration.

Top Tip: KIMBERLEY POINT (1)
Watch out for: CANNY STYLE (3)

MONBEG ZENA is an exciting recruit for Jared Sullivan and Olly Murphy, having won her point-to-point by fourth lengths in February 2017, and the daughter of Flemensfirth can make her debut under Rules a winning one for the young handler. Executive Capilano is open to further improvement on just her second start for Dan Skelton, while Berboru was third at 100-1 at Market Rasen last time out and should appreciate this extra yardage.

Top Tip: MONBEG ZENA (5)
Watch out for: BERBORU (2)

James King is one of the more experienced riders in this race and there was much to like about TRIGGER NICHOL's effort when second at Huntingdon last time. He has clearly come out of that race well to be lining up just seven days later, and first-time cheekpieces could prove the catalyst for success. Zamoyski won two in a row here when last seen 439 days ago and warrants a betting check, while Great Tempo is another to note.

Top Tip: TRIGGER NICHOL (4)
Watch out for: ZAMOYSKI (3)
