Hawwaam Runs On Saturday

In what must be something of a South African record, a total of 20 feature races will be run this weekend from Friday at Fairview until Sunday at Hollywoodbets Greyville, where the Hollywoodbets Gr1 Gold Challenge will be run.

As a result of time lost due to the lockdown, the racing operators are playing catch up and there is a surplus of quality racing at the moment.

Kenilworth and Turffontein share feature billing on Saturday with entries for the Champions Day meeting at the Gauteng venue closing today.

Tabnews reports that all eyes will be on Hawwaam, who will be lining up in the Gr1 World Sports Betting Champions Challenge over 2000m.
Depending on what happens with the export protocols, this could the four-year-old colt’s final race in South Africa.
Also run on the day will be the Gr 1 Computaform Sprint and HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club stakes for fillies and mares over 1000m and 1600m respectively.
